HOW WE WORK

Build the Retail System Around the Customer

Design

01 · Understand the Customer

Understand how your customers engage

We study customer behaviour, journeys, missions and trading patterns to understand how people discover, navigate, engage and buy. These insights establish the experience principles that shape the format, zoning and wider retail system.

What Brands Are Asking

Do you design and build?

Yes. Greater Group can manage the full project across strategy, design, documentation, procurement, manufacture, fitout and delivery, or work across individual stages depending on what you need.

We also adapt and document existing global concepts for local markets, giving brands the flexibility to engage us for the right scope at each stage.

How do you approach a retail rollout?

We establish the concept and retail guideline, then develop the documentation and fixture system required for consistent delivery. Value engineering is built into the process, reviewing materials, fixtures, manufacturing and construction methods to optimise cost and efficiency before scale.

Where appropriate, a pilot store allows the format to be tested and refined before sites are delivered through a coordinated rollout programme aligned to your locations, markets and opening dates.

How long does a store take?

Timelines depend on the format, footprint, site conditions and scope. We establish the programme early, identifying critical dates for design approvals, landlord submissions, procurement, manufacture and installation.

For multi-site programmes, these stages can overlap to keep successive locations moving towards their opening dates.

Can you work with landlords and centre management?

Yes. We regularly coordinate with landlords, shopping centres, airports and other property stakeholders as part of retail delivery.

Our teams can manage fitout submissions, documentation requirements, approvals, site access and installation requirements through to handover.

Can you adapt our existing global concept?

Yes. We work with global brands to translate established retail concepts into local sites, formats and market conditions.

This can include site adaptation, planning, documentation, fixture development, material specification and coordination with local landlords and delivery teams, maintaining the core brand and customer experience across locations.

Can you manufacture fixtures and joinery?

Yes. We manage bespoke joinery, fixture production and procurement as part of our delivery capability, including manufacturing through The Lab in Melbourne and our wider supplier network.

For multi-site programmes, fixtures can be developed as repeatable families to support consistency, cost control and efficient rollout.

Can you work across multiple markets?

Yes. Greater Group delivers projects across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and global markets, supporting both individual projects and multi-market programmes.

Our network of studios and delivery partners allows us to combine local market knowledge with a consistent design and documentation approach, helping brands maintain a clear customer and brand experience as they expand across markets.

What do you need from us to get started?

A site, target opening date, indicative budget and any existing brand or retail guidelines are enough to start the conversation. Floor plans, lease plans and landlord requirements are also useful where available.

We can then define the appropriate scope, programme and next steps for your project.
