Finding the Best Fit for ExpressVPN’s Growing Team
Greater Group delivered workplace planning, design and project management for ExpressVPN’s Singapore workplace, creating a warm, uplifting environment designed around a rapidly growing team. Multiple test-fit configurations were explored to balance immediate capacity with the flexibility needed as the business continued to evolve.
Planning for a Growing Team
ExpressVPN needed a Singapore workplace that could accommodate rapid team growth without compromising how its people worked together. The programme called for 124 workstations, multiple meeting and breakout spaces and a 100+ person town hall, alongside social and recreational areas that support a more connected workplace culture.
The challenge was not simply fitting more people onto the floor. It was finding the right configuration for a growing business, balancing capacity, collaboration and employee experience while allowing the workplace to evolve with the team.
Test, Refine, Then Design
Greater Group explored multiple test-fit configurations, testing different combinations of workstations, meeting rooms, collaboration zones and shared amenities to find the strongest use of the available floorplate.
Once the planning was resolved, it became the foundation for the design. Working closely with ExpressVPN’s digital design team, Greater Group translated the brand from online to offline, using familiar digital gestures such as swipe, drag, pinch, push and rotate to inform geometry, graphics and materiality.
Modular furniture and flexible settings allow spaces to adapt as teams and working patterns change, while greenery, timber and natural light create the warm, uplifting environment the brief called for. Greater Group’s scope extended through MEP, fire protection design and project management, carrying the project from spatial planning through coordinated delivery.
A Workplace Designed to Grow
The completed workplace brings together 124 workstations, multiple meeting and breakout settings, social and recreational spaces, and a 100+ person town hall within one cohesive environment. Rather than maximising capacity at the expense of experience, the final plan gives ExpressVPN room for both focused work and collaboration as the team grows.
The multiple test-fit configurations were key to getting that balance right. By testing different ways the floor could perform before resolving the design, Greater Group was able to build flexibility into the workplace from the outset, with modular furniture and adaptable spaces that can respond as team structures and working patterns change.
