Balancing Openness with Privacy
Balancing Openness with Privacy
HCF required a branch within Westfield Liverpool that could support sensitive member conversations while remaining open and welcoming to passing shoppers. Located on a busy shopping centre concourse, the branch needed to overcome constant background noise without compromising the transparent, approachable retail experience that defines the HCF network.
The challenge was to create an environment where members could comfortably discuss personal health and insurance matters without retreating behind enclosed consultation rooms or visually separating the branch from the mall.
Designing for Acoustic Comfort
Greater Group developed an integrated acoustic solution that addressed privacy through the design of the environment rather than physical separation. A purpose-designed acoustic wall reduced ambient concourse noise while preserving clear sightlines into the branch, allowing the space to remain open, inviting and connected to the surrounding retail environment.
Delivered as a design engagement, the solution was fully integrated into the architectural language of the branch and documented for seamless implementation, ensuring acoustic performance without compromising the overall customer experience.
Privacy Without Barriers
The completed branch demonstrates how thoughtful environmental design can support private, meaningful conversations within a busy retail setting. By reducing noise rather than enclosing space, the project maintained HCF’s welcoming retail identity while creating a more comfortable and confidential member experience.
