Integrating Healthcare Into the Retail Experience
Integrating Healthcare Into the Retail Experience
HCF sought to bring dental services into its retail network, creating a flagship that combined health insurance, consultation and clinical care within a single customer journey. The challenge was to integrate a fully operational dental clinic into a member-facing branch without compromising the welcoming, consultative environment established by the wider HCF retail concept. The solution needed to satisfy the technical and regulatory requirements of a clinical environment while preserving a seamless retail experience that reflected HCF’s people-first approach to healthcare.
Designing One Connected Experience
Greater Group delivered the Collins Street flagship through an integrated design, procurement and build programme, carefully planning the relationship between retail and clinical functions from the outset. Customer circulation was organised to transition naturally from open consultation areas to increasingly private healthcare settings, creating a seamless journey rather than two separate environments.
Behind the experience, the dental facilities were fully coordinated with the retail fit-out, integrating specialist services, compliance requirements and clinical infrastructure into the broader design. Applying the same modular design principles used across HCF’s branch network ensured the flagship remained consistent with the brand while accommodating its most complex operational requirements.
A New Model for Integrated Care
The completed Collins Street flagship established a new retail model for HCF, bringing insurance, consultation and dental care together within a single, cohesive environment. By combining clinical functionality with a welcoming customer experience, the project demonstrated how healthcare services could be successfully integrated into a high-street retail setting while maintaining the flexibility and consistency of HCF’s wider branch network.
