Repositioning Délifrance for a Younger Customer
A More Contemporary Café Offer
Changi City Point sits alongside one of Singapore’s major business districts, bringing Délifrance into a younger, weekday-led market with strong competition from contemporary cafés and fast-casual operators. The brief was to make the brand feel more relevant to that audience while retaining the familiarity and accessibility customers already associated with Délifrance.
The store needed to support more than a quick bakery transaction. Breakfast, lunch, informal meetings and longer stays all formed part of the customer rhythm, so the environment needed to feel more social, comfortable and contemporary without losing the clarity of the bakery offer at its core.
Make Dwell Part of the Offer
Greater Group shifted the emphasis towards a warmer and more hospitality-led experience. A large biophilic wall anchors the dining zone, supported by timber finishes, planting, banquette seating and a softer material palette that gives the store a more relaxed character.
The bakery offer remains highly visible, but the surrounding environment was designed to encourage customers to stay. Seating was treated as an important part of the proposition rather than an add-on, creating a stronger balance between takeaway convenience and a more considered café experience.
A Younger Expression of the Brand
The completed Changi City Point store presents Délifrance in a more contemporary way, with a stronger balance between bakery retail and café hospitality. Customers can still move efficiently through the offer, while the environment now supports longer visits, informal meetings and social use throughout the day.
For the wider programme, the project demonstrated how the Délifrance identity could be pushed towards a younger customer without becoming disconnected from the rest of the network. It gave the brand a more lifestyle-led expression suited to a business-district audience.
