A Store Designed for a Community-First Brand
LSKD’s retail expansion called for more than a new store format: it required a physical environment that reflected the brand’s community-first identity and could support its next phase of growth. Mt Maunganui, one of LSKD’s strongest community markets, became the opportunity to establish a retail concept that balanced product, experience and connection while creating a scalable model for future expansion across Australia and New Zealand. The challenge was to create a store that felt authentic to the brand’s culture while delivering a robust, repeatable retail system capable of adapting to different tenancies without losing consistency.
Creating a Retail Platform for Growth
Greater Group partnered with LSKD to translate the brand’s retail direction into its first fully realised store concept, delivering design, build and project management through a single integrated team. Guided by a research-led retail strategy, the project established a flexible store format supported by a standardised joinery system, central procurement model and repeatable technical documentation.
Rather than designing a one-off flagship, the approach focused on creating a scalable retail platform. Every design decision, from spatial planning and customer experience to fixture detailing and material selection, was developed to support efficient rollout, enabling future stores to respond to individual tenancy conditions while maintaining a consistent LSKD brand experience.
Setting the Benchmark for Future Rollouts
The completed Mt Maunganui store established the benchmark for LSKD’s next-generation retail format, translating the brand’s community-first identity into a physical environment designed for connection as much as commerce. More than a single store, it validated the new retail concept, joinery system and delivery model that would underpin future expansion across Australia and New Zealand. As the first completed expression of the new retail direction, the project became the reference for subsequent rollouts, providing a proven framework that enabled the network to scale with consistency, efficiency and quality.
