Redefining the Clinical Experience for SILK

Project SILK Laser Clinic Midland Gate
Format Clinic
Execution Midland Gate, Western Australia
Scope Design, Procurement and Build
01
01 Project Brief

Refreshing an Established Clinic Identity

Midland Gate formed part of SILK Laser Clinics’ national expansion and introduced a refreshed expression of its established clinic concept. Greater Group was engaged across design, procurement and build, refining the elements customers already associated with SILK while developing a more contemporary and consistent experience.

The environment needed to communicate the credibility of SILK’s medical-grade treatments while creating a sense of comfort from the moment customers arrived. The existing white, grey and timber palette provided the foundation, with the design introducing black detailing, new product displays and a stronger customer-facing experience.

02
02 Our Approach

Create Confidence Through the Environment

Greater Group developed the clinic around a calm and considered customer journey. A simplified shopfront uses a large black-framed window to open views towards the new Skin Bar and product displays, with an illuminated SILK logo and digital screens strengthening the clinic’s presence within the shopping centre.

Lighting became a defining part of the experience. 3500K halo illumination was integrated into the timber shopfront portal, architectural arches, reception signage and product displays, adding depth to the predominantly white interior and creating a consistent visual language throughout the clinic. Joinery and finishes were developed as a coordinated kit of parts, allowing the space to retain the clean, professional character expected of a clinical environment.

03 Project Outcome

An Award-Winning Evolution of the SILK Clinic

Midland Gate established a more refined expression of the SILK experience, bringing together the reassurance of a medical-grade clinic with the accessibility and presentation of a contemporary retail environment. The refreshed shopfront, lighting, Skin Bar and product displays give customers a clearer view into the clinic and strengthen the experience from arrival through to treatment.

The project received Silver for Retail Interior Design at the 2019 Melbourne Design Awards, recognising Greater Group’s evolution of the SILK clinic concept and its approach to customer experience within a specialist treatment environment.
