Maintain Presence Without a Full Branch
Maintain Presence Without a Full Branch
When a full ANZ branch is under construction or refurbishment, the bank still needs to maintain a physical presence and keep essential customer services available. The pop-up format was developed to bridge that operational gap, providing a temporary but fully functional banking environment while the permanent branch is offline.
The challenge was to make the format quick to deploy without making it feel temporary or compromised. It still needed to support private customer conversations, accessibility, security and digital banking functions, while remaining compact and modular enough to install, remove and redeploy as branch works progressed across the network.
Build the Branch Like a Product
Greater Group designed the kiosk as a modular product engineered around transportation, storage and rapid installation. Instead of designing the environment first and solving logistics afterwards, the dimensions, connections and construction system were developed around how the unit would be manufactured, moved and assembled.
Prototyped and tested at The Lab, Greater Group’s in-house manufacturing hub, the kiosk was fully assembled and quality-checked in a controlled environment before reaching site. This reduced on-site construction and allowed the modular frame, consultation area, digital elements and branded perimeter to arrive as a proven, repeatable system rather than requiring a new fitout each time.
From Pilot to a Movable Banking Network
Following the success of the initial pilot, five additional kiosks were produced for deployment, including regional Western Australian locations such as Albany and Busselton. The programme has since reached fourteen kiosk locations, from Albany and Busselton in Western Australia to Chatswood and Marrickville in Sydney, Docklands and Wendouree in Victoria, and Yeppoon, Gympie, Springfield, Coomera and Robina in Queensland.
The result gives ANZ a physical format that sits between a permanent branch and no presence at all. It can be deployed where a full branch is not viable, relocated as network requirements change, and reproduced without restarting the design and construction process. In that sense, the kiosk is less a small branch and more a reusable piece of banking infrastructure.
