The Store Where the Library Paid for Itself
The Largest Fixture Package of the Four
Burwood required a full store fixture package to the established David Jones standard, spanning menswear, womenswear, lingerie, footwear, accessories, eyewear, stationery and point of sale. It is the largest store on the programme by fixture count: 226 distinct styles and more than nine hundred individual units.
The brief arrived with the fixture programme already mature, which changes what is being asked. The retailer was not commissioning a design for a store; it was commissioning a store’s worth of fixtures to a standard that already existed, at a volume that made manufacturing capacity and installation sequencing the terms of the job.
Reuse What Was Approved, Manufacture the Rest
Most of what Burwood needed already existed. Seventy-seven of its fixture styles had been resolved and approved for Bondi, so they were specified from the library rather than developed again, and the effort concentrated on the styles particular to this store and on producing the volume.
Greater Group manufactured to the approved drawings, held quality control through the factory and before dispatch, and moved the package by container into Sydney against an installation programme run around trading. Because the specification drew on styles already signed off by the brands they belong to, the approval load that usually governs a package this size was largely settled before production started.
The Biggest Package, Delivered to an Existing Standard
Burwood received the largest fixture package on the account, 226 styles and more than nine hundred units, produced under one procurement chain and installed around a trading store.
Delivered last of the three, it is the store that shows what the programme was built to do. A fixture library assembled across the two Sydney stores before it absorbed the largest single package without renegotiating the standard, and Greater Group’s standing maintenance engagement now covers Burwood along with Chatswood and Bondi.
