Bringing Magill Estate To The Terminal
Penfolds wanted a premium airport venue combining wine bar, dining, and retail at Adelaide Airport. The objective was to create a luxurious point of presence for Penfolds within Adelaide Airport, reflecting the prestige of the Magill Estate brand. The design needed to leverage the high ceiling and natural light from the full-height glazing, while remaining lightweight and cost-efficient.
Three-in-one Venue
Clear zones for tasting, service, and dining were planned to protect circulation and bar efficiency within a compact footprint. Materials and furniture were specified for durability and ease of maintenance in a high-traffic environment. Documentation, design management, and procurement were managed to maintain control over detailing, cost, and brand alignment across the programme.
An Award-Winning Premium Destination
The completed venue offers travellers a seamless blend of bar, dining and take-home retail. Tasting, dining, and retail functions work together through clear zoning, strong sightlines, and an efficient bar arrangement. Layered seating, sculptural lighting and the signature rope installation create intimacy within the open terminal setting. The project was recognised with a Gold Melbourne Design Award, affirming its success in elevating Penfolds’ presence within aviation hospitality.
